foods you have to try in greece!

spanakopita, tiropita and patatopita

Pastry with spinach and feta, or just feta, or just potato! All three are amazing!

tiropita (left) and spanakopita (right)

kataifi

A very sweet dessert (Jorgi's favourite), made with honey/syrup and nuts.

baklava

You'd be crazy to go to Greece and not try a traditional baklava.

moussaka

A very traditional lasagne-style dish, usually made with beef, but you can get vegetarian options almost everywhere.

yiros (gyros)

Another traditional Greek dish, usually served with chicken, pork or lamb, but you can also find lots of vegetarian options. We had a mushroom yiros at Evilion Bistro that was absolutely mind-blowing!

greek salad

Simple, healthy and delicious. Even though Greek salads are common around the world, you haven't tried a Greek salad until you try a Greek salad in Greece..

saganaki, feta and halloumi

We do not usually eat cheese, but these three cheeses are irresistible. Imagine a big block of crumbed, fried cheese.. That's saganaki.

saganaki

loukoumades

Greek donuts.. enough said

tzatziki and skordalia

Tzatziki is a traditional Greek dip made with garlic, Greek yoghurt and cucumber. Skordalia is similar, however it is made with potato and garlic. Both are usually served with bread.

These pictures are not ours - they are free images from the world wide web. We were too worried about eating to take photos of all the amazing food we ate, but we wanted to add some pics in to give you guys something to drool over.
